At Tantallon Junior and Senior Elementary Schools, a group of volunteers run a Safe Arrivalprogram.  This program ensures us of the whereabouts of all of our students on any given day.  A designated phone line with answering machine is on 24 hours a day, seven days a week to take your calls (826-1205 Junior Elementary and 826-3344 Senior Elementary).  If you know that your child will be out of school (or late for school) please call this number leaving the date, the name of your child, your child’s teacher and the length of time your child will not be in school (if you know it).  If you do not leave a message on our machine, then volunteers will go over the attendance for the day and phone those parents/guardians who have not left messages.  Volunteers spend about an hour (8:30 to 9:30 am) each morning checking the absentee list and making sure all absentee children are accounted for.  It is very important to ensure that the phone numbers given at the office are kept current for both Safe arrival and emergency contact.
